Hello all, This is more for people that have went through the Kingston, Jamaica Embassy regarding the police certificate. My husband received his Police Certificate in December which does not expire for 2 years. However when looking at the required documents for the interview at the Kingston embassy it states the police record needs to be dated less than 6 months ago. Also NVC doesn't state it needs to be dated less than 6 months ago, it just states it needs to be valid. Does he needs to get a new police certificate? Does anyone have any experience with this? Hello everyone! I am trying to report my marriage to the Consulate in DC that has jurisdiction over Jamaica. I am in California and my husband is in Jamaica so I had to wait until I returned to see him to get the ROM form certified by a JPS officer in Jamaica (this is how they notarize items). The consulate refused to accept this form and is now returning our documents. They also emailed me (today) and told me that he can go to Kingston Jamaica (Which is located on the other side of the country) and pay $25 to see the "Consular Team" that is there for an event today! This is so last minute and not as easy to do than they think. By the way, the DC location requests you send them the ROM document via email prior to mailing in the documents. I did that and let them know it has been certified in Jamaica since my husband is not in the US to get it notarized with me. The response was "Indicate the full maiden names of both mothers in #18, then have four copies of the report of marriage forms and one affidavit of delayed registration signed and notarized. Please provide a copy of your PSA Certificate of no Marriage." Which I did; They did not say it was not going to be accepted or an issue. This is so frustrating

Some may say they did not have any issue when Trump was president last time. Well under the last Trump administration, the Democrats ran the house so many items he tried to put in place were blocked. The democrats do not have the same power as last time and he may push all the items he tried to do last time. Also, many applications were already passed through or filed prior to the "NEW" processes put in place. So, it is possible that previous applications went smoothly because of this or the country their spouse was migrating from was on the list of "Acceptable European" countries according to Trump. I listed below a few items Trump has or has tried to put into place but has failed. I only put this out as a warning and to prepare for possible changes. We do not know what will happen and what changes may affect us all. This proposal below did not pass Congressional approval last time. Because of the Democratic majority Congress President Trump had to deal with. But this time may pass. Last time President Trump pushed to widen the definition of who was ineligible due to receiving Public Benefits. He proposed adding anyone receiving “noncash:” type welfare benefits, such as Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Medicare Part D Low-Income Subsidy Program, and subsidized housing programs such as Section 8. In addition to making more CURRENT recipients of public assistance ineligible, it was also proposed to exclude those who had EVER in their lives previously received such benefits. Some of the items listed below were put in place but rolled back by Biden. Travel Bans Last time President Trump put a freeze on the issuance of visas for travelers from Eritrea, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Myanmar, Nigeria, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Venezuela and Yemen If this happens again, and your partner is from one of these countries, you may suffer years of extra waiting before your partner can join you in the USA. Vigorous Enforcement of Immigration Laws Increased Requests for Evidence (RFEs) Focus on “Best and Brightest” Similarly, proposed but failed last time were plans to change eligibility requirements to include whether a prospective immigrant has the “education, experience and health to be a successful member of US society” Additional Mandatory Interviews - (K1 & CR1) After your fiancée has arrived on his/her K1 fiancé visa, after the wedding, for your partner to remain in the USA, we apply to adjust your new spouse’s status from a visitor to a permanent resident. Officially this process ends with an in-person interview for both you and your partner to meet with an officer who asks potentially intrusive questions about your private lives, to assess in his opinion whether your marriage is “bona fide” or a “sham for immigration purposes”. A similar interview is held two years later for those who were issued temporary “conditional” green cards. The official process is, each K1 Fiancé couple is interviewed twice, a CR1 Spouse couple once. In current practice, if an application contains the evidence that the USCIS reviewer requires and convincingly demonstrates a “bona fide” relationship, often the USCIS reviewing officer, uses his discretion, reduces his/her workload, by approving the green card, outright, waiving the interview requirement. USCIS Delays and slower, processing times The combined effect of these various executive orders of more rules, more restrictions, stricter requirements, will result in slower processing, delays and denials. Higher Eligibility Standard for US Citizenship During the last Trump Administration, the Civics Test that a prospective citizen must pass was revised to a more rigorous exam, additional questions were added and a higher passing score required. This stricter requirement was revoked by the then Democratic Congress. Expect this order to return, and the application process to become a US Citizen made more difficult. It appears that many people have filed for the K3 but they have added it to their timeline or Visajourney doesn't have a way to track it properly. So far many people that have filed for the K3 have had their I-130 approved in 12 months or less. Of course not all and they're are exceptions. However it is worth tracking and considering filing for this option. I would like to follow along with others that have filed and are currently waiting. Nobody is filing for the K3 to get the K3. If you don't understand the concept of it, it is best to just stay with the I-130 😂 good luck

Filing the K3 only makes sense if you are going to apply immediately after the i-130. If you wait a few months then it can cancel out any benefits you would've received. Some benefits I think you can get from submitting the K3 is how soon you can submit questions. But again if you wait more than 3 months to submit then you are just giving the I-129F application the same amount of time as the I-130. My I-129F application is giving me an estimate time of 10 months and I can ask questions as soon as June 20, 2025. My I-130 is currently saying 15.5 months is the processing time on USCIS and it shows I can't ask any questions until Feb 1, 2026. The I-129F processing time has reached their goal of 6 months so it could be possible that I hear back soon. If I don't hear back it will lead me to believe they are either ignoring the K3 or have a completely different process from the K1 or it may get sent elsewhere or placed in a different pile. Either way I will be using the time frame given to me on when I can inquire since they have not officially stated they have cancelled the K3 or are not processing them.

I submitted an expedite request for humanitarian reasons. I spoke to a Tier 2 officer and then I received an email notice confirming my request meets the minimum requirements and it was sent to the office that has my case. My questions are: Can I track my expedite request? (have seen online that people have been able to track their expedite request but I don't see that option anywhere for me.) Has anyone ever received the notice that your request meets the min requirements? If so what was the outcome for you?
