No. N-400, 5 year rule. I just now got concerned because my case number has a weird block number IOE957xxxxxxx when majority of cases seem to be IOE09xxxxxxxx. I wonder what that is about.

Did you file online? My case also started with IOE9... I'm a citizen now.

Case trackers are only picking paper filed cases I think.

Yes, I filed online. That makes sense now (I hope it's true). Anyways, regarding that other person's situation - just ONE week wait between case filed and interview scheduled is wild!

Congrats! That is crazy fast! I am also ATL based, applied in late March but still no interview notice...

Not sure why you have not been called for interview yet, my neighbor and I applied on the same day, both were not required to show up for fingerprints, and also we got interview on the same day. I hope you get your interview soon. Also, we both applied based on 5 year general provision (5 years residence). Only difference is she came to USA in 2001 on a tourist visa and got married here, and I did in 2009 as a family based (spouse of a USA citizen, but never applied for citizenship).

Interview scheduled July 19! I'm shocked, was thinking it wouldn't be until autumn.

Interestingly, it's on a Saturday. Do they also have oath ceremonies on Saturdays?

Our case also started with IOE9 if that makes a difference.

They even have oaths on Federal Holidays. Somebody has oath on July 4th from what I read on VJ recently.

I guess it's a bonus, you wouldn't need to take time off work :)

Good luck!

To evade paying certain taxes.

For example, E-2 visa holders don't have to pay some taxes LPRs and citizens pay.

Non-resident aliens typically don't pay FICA. They also don't pay tax on foreign investments and any foreign income.

So people may pretend on IRS paperwork they're nonresident aliens.

Yeah it's mainly for reaping benefits in their home country. Canadians, for example, are no longer eligible to hold TFSA (tax free savings account) once they become LPR or American citizen. So if they continued to hold that type of account after becoming an LPR, they are representing themselves as a nonresident alien. Same with using Canadian healthcare which is only limited to Canadian residents.

Here in NH they have a special oath ceremony every year on 4th of July at the Strawbery Banke Museum in Portsmouth. I assume it is run by the Manchester Field Office. Normally the oath ceremonies are no nonsense business like, but this one (and probably others held on 4th of July across the country) have much more fanfare. The public is also allowed to attend. It's a celebration of the patriotism. I wish I had submitted earlier to have had a chance at that ceremony....
